Aerie Africa is a nonprofit organization committed to providing a safe haven and loving support for Ethiopian children who are orphans. The Ethiopian arm of the program is administered by the non-governmental organization call Children’s Cross Connection, Ethiopia (CCCE). Aerie Africa currently supports 36 young children living in a recently-built and roomy orphanage, as well as 11 older “graduates” who are living in Aerie-sponsored transition homes while they build life skills to dwell independently in the community of Soddo, Ethiopia. Most of the children came into the program after their parents died of AIDS or malaria. Some were rescued from living in the streets, others were sent by relatives and friends who could not provide shelter and food.

Can you send me information regarding children needing sponsorship? We might particularly be interested in sponsoring a female orphaned child or sibling set (boy/girl or girl, girl). In 2007, we adopted (through CWA) a ten year old girl from Soddo. She was orphaned and lived with a relative. Soddo has a special place in our heart. Are any of the children adoptable? Through what organization? We love the blog and website.

Thanks for your interest in Aerie Africa and CCC. Soddo holds a special place in many of our hearts. The children at the CCC home are not eligible for adoption. Only children who can not be adopted are placed in the CCC home. We work hard to provide a loving home and to educate the children so they will become leaders in their community. We will send you information on sponsorship. It is a great way to have a relationship with a child or children in Soddo.
